Flowering Mechanism in Kodo Millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum)

نویسندگان

چکیده

Since kodo millet is a self-pollinated plant, it essential to understand the factors that influence length of flowering period, pollination behaviour, and seed set in order improve breeding programme effectiveness yield stability while also boosting productivity. Kodo flowers remain closed because they are cleistogamous nature. They have tiny florets. Emasculation artificial hybridization challenging pollen less readily available. There only few sources information. To get around this, current inquiry was started. It aims gather fundamental data from variety literature, then, with use fieldwork this text prepared.

In vivo effect of whole grain flour of finger millet (Eleusine coracana) and kodo millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum) on rat dermal wound healing.

Influence of finger millet and kodo millet on rat dermal wound healing was assessed by making a 4 cm2 (2 x 2 cm) excision wound on the shaven back of rats under ether anesthesia. Finger millet or kodo millet flour (300 mg) as aqueous paste was applied topically once daily for 16 days. The granulation tissue formed on day 4, 8 and 12 was used to estimate some biochemical parameters like protein,...

Chronic toxicity study of Paspalum scrobiculatum extract in rats.

Dried ethanol extract of Paspalum scrobiculatum grain has powerful tranquillizing action in animals (1, 2). It has been successfully used as a major tranquillizer, in short-term clinical trials,in acutely agitated schizophrenic patients (3-7). These clinical trials were conducted on the basis of acute and subacute toxicity studies carried out by Bhide (8) in mice and dogs, and by Shah et al (6)...

Genetic diversity and genomic resources available for the small millet crops to accelerate a New Green Revolution

Small millets are nutrient-rich food sources traditionally grown and consumed by subsistence farmers in Asia and Africa. They include finger millet (Eleusine coracana), foxtail millet (Setaria italica), kodo millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum), proso millet (Panicum miliaceum), barnyard millet (Echinochloa spp.), and little millet (Panicum sumatrense). Local farmers value the small millets for thei...

Mapping QTLs Controlling Flowering Time and Important Agronomic Traits in Pearl Millet

Pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.] is a staple crop for the people of arid and semi-arid regions of the world. It is fast gaining importance as a climate resilient nutricereal. Exploiting the bold seeded, semi-dwarf, and early flowering genotypes in pearl millet is a key breeding strategy to enhance yield, adaptability, and for adequate food in resource-poor zones. Genetic variation ...
